THE PROCESS

Your GRACE GOW VOW Workshop consists of two parts. First, you’ll carve your ring from hard jewelers wax with Cat. Then, we'll send off your prepared wax ring to the caster to be turned into metal. When the rough metal returns to Cat, she will set gemstones, file, polish and perfect your final piece of jewelry.

The GRACE GOW VOW Carving process is perfect if you want to create a dynamic and original design, whether you’re going for a smooth candle-melted organic form or something that has a bold, deep texture.  This process is also great if you have an engagement ring and you want to shape a ring to fit around it.

**Rings that require additional work by Cat are welcomed. This quantity of time spend by Cat is considered and estimated on a case by case basis and will require your input on specific unique design ideas.

YELLOW GOLD

Yellow gold has long been a classic choice for wedding bands and in its pure form is naturally very soft. GRACE GOW VOW recommends working with 14KT or 18KT for its strength; it's a good thing to remember that all precious metals will scuff and scratch slightly with daily wear.

ROSE GOLD & PEACH GOLD

Different colors of gold result from mixing alloys and rose and red golds use higher levels of copper and less silver. They still contain the same amount of pure gold per karat as yellow gold.

Peach gold is another color option and falls in between rose gold and yellow gold. It's a great color match to vintage European rose gold engagement rings, which are less copper in color then today’s rose gold.

PALLADIUM WHITE GOLD

This white gold alloy is mixed with palladium. Palladium is a member of the platinum family and shares many of the same characteristics with its cousin platinum, including its “liquid  surface” and durability. Palladium white gold is a beautiful metal to work with and does not cause the skin allergies as standard white gold.

WHITE GOLD

Standard white gold is alloyed with nickel which makes it crack easily and makes it hard to work with. Nickel is also the most common metal allergy and the cause of why many people are allergic to white gold.

PALLADIUM SILVER

Silver is easy to form and polish and is known for its bright white silver color and common use in jewelry, palladium sterling silver is a great material to work with. Many of my wedding ring carvers choose to work with sterling because its price is a bit lower than other more expensive metals. However, if you'd like a ring that will hold its original finish, Cat would not recommend palladium silver.

RECYCLED METALS

At GRACE GOW VOW we exclusively work with 100% recycled precious metals. We receive an inquiries about recycling existing jewelry into the new wedding bands. Unfortunately, Cat is not able to use existing rings and jewelry.

The recycled metals that GRACE GOW VOW uses come from a eco-conscious green casting company that specializes in recycling precious metals like silver, gold, palladium, and platinum. We currently do not melt down or re-work existing jewelry.

If you'd like to consider recycling your piece of jewelry, you may trade it in for the value of its metal, and GRACE GOW VOW can refer you to a trusted trade-in service. Then you may use that money toward your couples carve rings!
